During our survey of Pasir Ris seagrass meadows on 12 July, we saw dugong feeding trails! Dugong feeding trails are formed when dugongs chomp up seagrasses, leaving a shallow trail of about equal width. Spoon seagrasses are among their favourites and these furrows were seen in meadows of Spoon seagrasses.
We almost never see the dugong but one was spotted at Chek Jawa in Oct 2013 during a Naked Hermit Crab walk for families there.
Singapore's waters are alive!
