Pulau Tekukor, the other side of our Marine Park

The Western shore of Pulau Tekukor is part of the Sisters' Islands Marine Park, which lies opposite it.

This morning, I had a quick look on this rocky shore. There are some seagrasses, and a few corals here. The team also had a great time commemorating National Day on this other side of the Marine Park.

Among the most abundant animals on this shore are Long black sea cucumbers, and Giant carpet sea anemones. Chay Hoon saw the Fluted giant clam and it was alright. There were also lots of little fishes and crabs.
Various marine life at Pulau Tekukor
There were many Giant carpet anemones and many Frilly sea anemones. I also saw one small Wiggly reef anemone and some Banded bead anemones.
I saw Anemonefishes and anemone shrimps in a few of the carpet anemones.
False clown anemonefishes (Amphiprion ocellaris) and Five-spot anemone shrimp (Periclimenes brevicarpalis) in Giant carpet anemone (Stichodactyla gigantea)
I saw two bleaching anemones. A small Giant carpet anemone, and a Frilly anemone.
There were a few leathery soft corals of various kinds and some Broad feathery soft corals.
There are not many hard corals on this soft coral. There were a few Boulder pore corals, some quite large, and a few Merulinid corals. They were not bleaching.
As usual, zoanthids of various kinds cover vast areas of this rocky shore.
There were a few sponges here and there.
There were nice healthy looking Sickle seagrass and Spoon seagrass growing here. Here's a view of the patch of Sickle seagrass.

There are also patches of Spoon seagrasses. The seagrasses I saw look well.

Chay Hoon pointed out some skeletons that look like they are of a dead sea turtle. Oh dear. We did see a dead sea turtle on Pulau Tekukor on our survey in Jun 2016.
There is a narrow line of plastic trash on the shore.

We saw several Stand Up Paddleboard people around the island. And one landed on the shore and appeared to be interested in empty shells.

The team started on a drippy morning on National Day!

Later in the day, Pei Yan took a drone selfie and Russel a boomerang shot too.

Here's Lisa's version of our photo.
