Wild fun for kids during the March school holidays!

Exciting nature activities specially for kids are lined up for the coming school holidays! Lots of fun ways to discover and enjoy Singapore's biodiversity! Many are free.

Explore our threatened forests of MacRitchie, volunteer with the whole family at Ubin or explore Chek Jawa, come for a water carnival at Kallang Riverside Park, go for nature camps at Sungei Buloh or Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, join nature story-telling or guided walks specially for kids. And lots more!

11 Mar (Sat) and 19 Mar (Sun): MacRitchie Nature Walk with BES Drongos
Join the volunteers of BES Drongos on a remarkable adventure through the stunning forests in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve along the well-trodden Petai Trail!

18 Mar (Sat): Island-A-Hand with Outward Bound Singapore
Project IsLand-A-Hand (PIAH) is back! Join OBS to lend a hand in conserving the environment. You'll also get to appreciate Pulau Ubin's greenery. For the first time, our OBS alumni will be taking the lead in organising the event! So come join us to show some love for our environment and fellow youths!

18 Mar (Sat): Free Chek Jawa boardwalk tour with the Naked Hermit Crabs
The Naked Hermit Crabs introduce you to Chek Jawa without getting your feet wet. Even though we are not going on to the shore, there is still much to see and enjoy. There are monitor lizards, fiddler crabs, spiders, rare plants, wild boar, mudskippers and lots of fruit trees. If we are lucky, we might even spot the Oriental Pied Hornbill, White-bellied Sea Eagle and the giant Atlas Moth.

18 Mar (Sat): Young Naturalist Camp at Sungei Buloh
This one-day camp encompasses a series of fun-filled and educational indoor and outdoor learning of the wetlands and nature conservation issues through worksheets, nature walks and hands-on activities. Suitable for children from 7 to 12 years.
 

18 Mar (Sat): "Go to Sleep, Gecko!" - Storytelling and guided tour for kids
Join us for a fun-filled session to find out why Gecko does not get his sleep and how he learns that his well-being depends on that of the entire village. This session will provide children with the opportunity to explore nature together with a storytelling session by the Junior Reading Ambassadors and a general tour around the Singapore Botanic Gardens!

18 Mar (Sat): Waterways Watch Society Family Carnival
Waterways Watch Society is having their FIRST EVER CARNIVAL! With kayak treasure hunt and  more!

18 Mar (Sat): Marine Open House @ Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum
Free for first 500 people who register for this awesome Open House featuring marine life! Guided tours, treasure hunt, talks! Photo contest too! Come to the Museum dressed as a marine animal! Or take a photo with your favourite marine animal on display!

11 Mar (Sat): Sara Goes Gardening - a guided tour for kids
Sara, the Botanicosaurus, and her siblings and friends are going to discover the joy of gardening at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Join Sara as she discovers fascinating facts and enjoys interesting stories about aloe vera, lemon grass, garlic, spring onion and many more nutritious and yummy herbs and spices. Alongside learning about plants for a healthier and stronger body, pick up gardening tips to grow your favourite plants for your very own kitchen garden! Suitable for children in K1 - P6. $9 per child (includes "Sara Goes Gardening" book) and $6 per accompanying adult.levels

14 Mar (Tue): Numbers and Shapes -- a guided tour for kids
Follow a trail of numbers and shapes at the Singapore Botanic Gardens! Children will have the opportunity to discover some interesting characteristics about selected plants with special emphasis on leaves, their numbers and shapes. Suitable for children in K1 – P2 levels. $6 per child and $6 per accompanying parent.

14 Mar (Tue) and 16 Mar (Thu): Nature Keeper Camp for kids
Designed to stimulate the interest of the young and inculcate in them an appreciation of our forests. This one-day Nature Keeper Camp aims to nurture young minds in active protection and conservation of our natural heritage. Suitable for children 7 - 11 years old (Primary 1 to 5). $25 per child (includes all materials, tea breaks and lunch)

16 Mar (Thu): Adventure with Plants - Sara at the Evolution Garden
In this guided tour for kids, join a giant prehistoric dinosaur, Sara, who lost her friends in the Evolution Garden. Travel back through time with Sara and help her search for her squirrel friends. By going through the thematic trail, you will also learn about some ancient plants which emerged on earth millions of years ago! Suitable for children in K1 – P6 levels. $8.50 per child (includes $2.50 "Adventure with Plants, Sara at the Evolution Garden" workbook) and $6 per accompanying adult.

You can also explore on your own! Check out the many DIY Trail Guideson the NParks website. More about our wild places on wildsingapore. A tip to avoid the crowds on school holiday weekends, come early. That's when wildlife is more active anyway. And leave before it gets too hot.
