Kusu Island has amazing reefs and is one of the few locations where it is possible to take this kind of photo. A foreground of rich reefs with the city skyline on the horizon.
Also, this is only possible during a daylight super low tide, which seldom happens. Today was such a day! I spent most of it surveying the landscape around Kusu Island.

Beting Bronok still beautiful
We visit Beting Bronok, a submerged reef on our Northern shore, once a year. Just to see how it's doing.
This morning, I was delighted to see that Beting Bronok is still very much alive. Some parts of the shore are thick with sponges and other colourful soft corals and cnidarians.

Nudibranch motherlode at Changi
There are lots of nudibranchs even on Changi! Today, I came across a whole bunch of them, crammed together busy laying egg ribbons.
Together, the team covered a whole stretch of Changi as we spread out over this low spring tide. Lots of amazing sightings!

The weirdest marine creature I've seen
Today I came across this bizarre little creature at Changi. It's the weirdest thing I've so far.
It had a very hard body and was very firmly stuck to a rock, but a soft tube-like thing sticking out and squirting a tiny bit of water. Is it some animal living in a coral colony? Is it a slug?

Seahorse, nudis and more at Punggol Beach!
I saw a tiny seahorse clinging onto sea fans growing on the rocky shore of Punggol Beach! It's so well camouflaged at first I thought it was just a piece of rubbish.
A small team devotes this super low spring tide to explore a shore that we don't often visit. And are pleasantly surprised by nudibranchs and other colourful marine life.

How to take good scientific specimen photos
I am greatly inspired by Dr Tan Heok Hui's talk about taking scientific specimen photos yesterday.
The principles seem easy, but a lot of hard work, talent and an artistic eye are involved in taking useful and beautiful specimen photos.
