Mangrove restoration at Sungei Buloh begins

Mangrove restoration and coastal protection works off Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve has begun.
This is part of the effort to develop the area around Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.

Coastal Protection and Restoration of Mangrove off Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

With effect from 07 Jun 11 to 06 Dec 11. Off Sungei Buloh and its vicinity, within the area bounded by the following co-ordinates (see attached chartlet, above):

Coastal protection and restoration of mangrove will entail filling up of biodegradable bags, transportation of sea bed material and placement of filled biodegradable bags at the location of the mangrove lines and the construction of breakwater. The work barge will be used for transportation of equipment and material to the work site. A safety boat will be in attendance at all times to warn and re-direct craft in the vicinity to keep clear of the working area.
