Teeny weeny polka dot crab discovered

Nicknamed the Strawberry crab, Taiwanese researchers discovered the crab while studying the environmental impact of a shipwreck at Kenting National Park.

The Taiwanese report added "Scholars at the National University of Singapore have also found a male Strawberry Crab on a Pacific island"

'Repair' of sea walls at Labrador, until Mar 10

The tiny sliver of natural shore at Labrador already has to put up with the effects of the Pasir Panjang Container Terminal extension: which includes massive reclamation, underwater blasting, dredging, removal of underwater pipelines and submarine cables. Marcus shared a video clip of how existing structures nearby are being demolished and the debris simply allowed to fall into the sea.
Now it seems there will be 'repairs' to the entire sea wall and jetty on Labrador for the next three months.

Any dead fish at Changi?

I made a swift solo check this evening on a not-so-low tide. Having seen hundreds of dead fishes at Pasir Ris, and reading about fish farms at Pulau Ubin suffering fish kills as well, I was a little worried about the health of the Changi shores.
I started at Changi Creek where the retreating tide in the dying day has exposed lots of soft mud. There was a strong smell of dead fish at some spots.

Clam hunt at Pulau Tekukor

A large island just off Sentosa, Pulau Tekukor is an unused island that we seldom visit as special permission is required.
Mei Lin obtained permission to hunt for giant clams and yesterday we made a rare visit there.

'Dead fish zone' hits Pulau Ubin

Today it was reported that the 50 fish farms around Pulau Ubin have lost fish, with some losing as much as 60% of their stocks.
Recent comments on Facebook suggest the massive dead fish situation has also extended to Changi.
