Wild fun for kids during the September school holidays!

Exciting nature activities specially for kids are lined up for the coming school holidays! Free fun ways to discover and enjoy Singapore's biodiversity!
Families on a guided tour at Pasir Ris Mangrove Boardwalk
At Sungei Buloh, lots of fun activities for the Wonderful World of Waders celebrations. Also exhibitions, story telling and a walk to learn about our threatened MacRitchie forests. Join an evening mangrove walk at Pasir Ris, come for a demo of prawn and fish harvesting. Also, kids' nature camps, workshops on dragonflies, and MORE!

2 Sep (Sat) and 9 Sep (Sat): Wonderful World of Waders at Sungei Buloh
Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve anticipates the arrival of our migratory friends and host an annual celebration to welcome them. There will be myriad activities from art and photo exhibitions, workshops, interactive family games to bird viewing stations.

2 Sep (Sat) and 3 Sep (Sun) and 10 Sep (Sun): Friends of the Forest with Love Our MacRitchie Forest
Specially for kids. Visit the Love our MacRitchie Forest conservation booth at the library. There’ll be plenty of interesting animal specimens and exciting hands-on activities for children.

3 Sep (Sun): Free Pasir Ris Mangrove boardwalk tour with the Naked Hermit Crabs
Specially for kids and families, explore Pasir Ris mangroves with volunteer nature guides from the Naked Hermit Crabs on this FREE guided tour of the boardwalk! During our evening stroll through this interesting but often overlooked mangrove, we are sure to see lots of crazy tree climbing crabs, delightful giant mudskippers and cool monitor lizards. Pasir Ris is also one of the few places where nesting herons are easily observed. And as the sun sets, we might spot some nocturnal animals like watersnakes. If we're lucky, we may catch a glimpse of the rare Mangrove pitta or the family of otters that have been seen here!

7 Sep (Thu): “Love MacRitchie” Free Public Walk by Cicada Tree Eco-Place
A free public guided nature walk to Venus Forest at Windsor Nature Park conducted by Cicada Tree Eco-Place. Suitable for children 6 years and older.

9 Sep (Sat): Prawn and Fish Harvesting Demo at Sungei Buloh
Once again we bring you on a journey back to the past, where the history of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve as prawn and fish farms is one not to be ignored. The importance of mangroves as a spawning place and nursery for prawns and other life played an important role in shaping Sungei Buloh today. The traditional method of prawn harvesting will be demonstrated and how the tidal influence play a part in this activity will be brought to life.

5 Sep (Tue) and 7 Sep (Thu): Nature Keeper Camp for kids
Designed to stimulate the interest of the young and inculcate in them an appreciation of our forests. This one-day Nature Keeper Camp aims to nurture young minds in active protection and conservation of our natural heritage. Suitable for children 7 - 11 years old (Primary 1 to 5). $25 per child (includes all materials, tea breaks and lunch)

6 Sep (Wed): Grow With Nature” Drama for kids -- The Seeds
Through nature, we can learn and grow in character. The rich biodiversity in nature makes it a good teaching tool to develop children’s character through dramatization. Children will be encouraged to care for nature and to be aware of its biodiversity. Learn why you should think before you act in this workshop. Suitable for children in K1 – P6 Levels. $10 per child
 

8 Sep (Fri): Dragons and Damsels in Our Wetlands - a guided tour for kids
Did you know that dragonflies are among one of the most ancient winged insects in the world?
With body structures that have remain largely unchanged since the Jurassic age, these fighter jets of the insect world help to keep the population of insects in check, and are an indicator for the health of our environment. Join us at the Keppel Discovery Wetlands of the Singapore Botanic Gardens’ Learning Forest to learn how the plants and animals have adapted to this wetland habitat, discover the differences between dragonflies and damselflies, and challenge yourself to identifying the many species of ‘dragons’ and ‘damsels’ that can be found here! Suitable for children in K1-P6. $6 per child and $6 per accompanying adult.

9 Sep (Sat): Plants and Their Habitats -- a guided tour for kids
Just like us, plants need a home to provide themselves with food and shelter. Plant habitats are diverse, which include gardens, ponds and even deserts. During this tour, children will be led to observe different plant habitats and explore the features of plants and understand how certain adaptations help plants survive. Suitable for children in K1 - P6 levels. $6 per child and $6 per accompanying adult.
