Bloom of jellyfish at Pasir Ris mangroves!

How delightful to see jellyfishes large and small, bob into Pasir Ris mangroves at high tide!

Pasir Ris mangroves are also full of birds and other fascinating wildlife.

The tide was rising, and we saw lots of animals as they crept up trees and high places to avoid the incoming water. Like these snails.
Red chut-chut (Cerithidea obtusa) and Lined nerite (Nerita articulata) on a tree
And these tree climbing crabs.

My first time seeing a pair of Zebra doves foraging among the mudlobster mounds. Perhaps more creatures emerge when the incoming tide floods the 'basement' of the 'mudlobster condo'?

Pasir Ris mangroves is a great place to spot birds. Like the Oriental pied hornbill.

There's a hornbill nest box near the mangroves and it appears a hornbill is inside it!

We saw this tiny kingfisher perched along Sungei Tampines. I have no idea what kind of kingfisher it is.

There are also many pretty mangrove plants planted at the Park. Including this large shrub of Teruntum merah that was in full bloom!

As the tide turned, Xiao Ting spotted several Dog faced water snakes swimming in the water. And we also saw a Mangrove snake eel swimming about. So far, I usually see these animals moving more actively at night!
I was at Pasir Ris to introduce Rachel Quek and her team to the awesome wildlife and plants there. Here's Xiao Ting with a Malayan water monitor lizard that has climbed up a tree to get out of the incoming tide.

Rachel and her team is filming the Restore Ubin Mangroves (R.U.M.) Initiative. More about her work on her Ubin, Sayang website. Being so convenient. R.U.M. held training on mangroves at Pasir Ris recently.

Pasir Ris Park mangroves are just 10 minutes from Pasir Ris MRT and just next to DownTown East. It has educational and interesting panels so you can explore it on your own. It is the only mangrove boardwalk that is open 24/7. A night trip to here can be quite amazing. And here's more about why Pair Ris mangroves are so awesome.

The Naked Hermit Crabs hold free guided walks for families at Pasir Ris Park every now and then. Check out their blog for the latest announcements of a Pasir Ris walk.
