This post is somewhat late as I got sidetracked by Dead Fish Alert.
Free monthly Chek Jawa boardwalk tour with the Naked Hermit Crabs
We had a glorious Saturday with enthusiastic families at the Chek Jawa boardwalk tour with the Naked Hermit Crabs.
Mama Crab Ley Kun looks after all of us so well despite her busy schedule. She starts off the tour with an introduction about why the Crabs are Naked.
I'm so lucky Mohammad Juhari was with us today. He explained Malay history of Chek Jawa and also took awesome photos of our trip.
The kids are well prepared for a real close look at Chek Jawa! They also found lots of cool critters
Alas, we also saw what looked like Palm Oil Waste washing up on Chek Jawa.
It was a gorgeous blue sky day as we ended at House No. 1 overlooking Pulau Sekudu and Changi.
Here, the kids as usual, share amazing drawings of what they encountered. And I am always so touched by the mums and dads who take the effort to bring their kids to see Chek Jawa!

Free mangrove walk with the Restore Ubin Mangroves (R.U.M.) Initiative
The next day, another awesome day at Pulau Ubin with amazing people who joined a free leisurely walk from Ubin Town to nearby abandoned aquaculture ponds.
The walk was to share about the an exciting ground-up community effort to give Mother Nature a hand in restoring mangroves at abandoned aquaculture ponds on Pulau Ubin.
Everyone had fun learning about the Restore Ubin Mangroves (R.U.M.) Initiative and the Ecological Mangrove Restoration method, where mangroves will be naturally restored at abandoned aquaculture ponds on Pulau Ubin.
We also saw cool critters like the Paradise Tree snake!
And checked out kampung living.
Thanks to Jonathan Tan for sharing about plants and animals along the way.
Thanks once again to Mohammad Juhari for taking awesome photos and videos of our trip. And also Richard Kuah for more photos of our trip!
Everyone loves durians! And without mangroves, we would have no durians!
Thanks also to Uncle Lim of No. 42 Pulau Ubin for graciously allowing us to use his shop for the discussions before and after the walk.
