December of Dolphins

Amazing wild dolphin sightings recently in Singapore waters!
On 10 Dec 2014, Chay Hoon posted on facebook: Francis of Dolphin Explorer Singapore notified the sighting of 3 Pacific Humpback Dolphins at Pulau Satumu (where Raffles Lighthouse is situated) today!

Here's more photos shared by Chay Hoon.

And a video clip shared by Lionel Ng on facebook.

On 1 Dec 2014, the St. John's Island Marine Lab reported: Our "Harmful Algae Bloom" team is out at sea collecting samples when they saw this group of four dolphins off Tanjung Rhu at about 10am. The photographs are of quite low resolution (taken by mobile phone and just sent to us over whatsapp!) but the dorsal fins of the dolphins are still visible."
Audrey Teng commented on this post: "Think I saw a few too with my binoculars from the Lazarus beach last Fri albeit briefly! Made me so happy for the rest of the day!"

In November, the St. John's Island Marine Lab shared this awesome video of dolphins spotted on 5 Nov 2014.

Meanwhile, Channel NewsAsia (CNA) has been featuring the captive born dolphin at Underwater World Singapore (UWS). There were earlier reports that Wildlife Watchers (Singapore) in collaboration with Sea Shepard Conservation Society (SSCS) questioned the health conditions of the dolphins and the welfare of the otters housed in Dolphin Lagoon and Underwater World Singapore in a 30-page report.

There was an outpouring of comments on the Channel NewsAsia facebook page post on 8.58am. Many posts urged CNA not to support UWS and captive dolphins.
Surprisingly, CNA reposted the same article at 7.30pm. To avoid the comments on the earlier post?
Thanks to Sumita Thiagarajan for spotting the change.
