"What's that big animal out on the shore?!" Mei Lin remarked as we headed out to Chek Jawa in the evening.
It's an otter! We also managed to get seagrass work done, and spot other interesting marine life!

Mudskipper madness at Seletar
The Blue-spotted is my favourite mudskipper. It is so pretty and I seldom see it.
So I had a great time watching them from the 'boardwalks' at Seletar mangroves together with Andy.

Kusu pilgrimage season: 27 Sep to 26 Oct 2011
Traditionally happening on the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, 100,000 devotees and visitors are expected to visit tiny Kusu Island for the annual pilgrimage season.
It is said that 80% of the pilgrims are women. Many come to pray for good husbands, healthy babies and obedient children.

Elevating the mangroves with Rick
I learnt a lot of new things about mangroves from Rick! He's doing an important study of Mandai mangroves and I was thrilled to have a chance to 'help' out yesterday.
I also had little outings to some other mangrove spots during this period of no-low-spring-tides.

Your help needed to document our WILD dolphins!
Yes! There are wild dolphins in Singapore's waters! The latest sighting of dolphins was on 24 Aug when two Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins were spotted near St. John's Island jetty. On 18 Aug, two to three Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins were seen near Pulau Tekong
These sightings are posted on the Singapore Wild Marine Mammal Survey (SWiMMS) map. SWiMMS is now looking for volunteers to help document these dolphins!
From the SWiMMS facebook page: "Interested to volunteer for SWiMMS? We are looking for volunteers who are willing to spend a few hours on St. John's Island to look out for dolphins and to take photographs if the dolphins appear. Please email us at swimms@nus.edu.sg if you would like to find out more! Thank you for your support."
