Dredging and massive reclamation next to Labrador until Oct 10
Dredging and reclamation works lead to high levels of sediments and thus murky waters. Like haze in the air, this 'cloudy' water is not good for our marine life.
The massive reclamation at Pasir Panjang continues until Oct 10. This huge site is next to Labrador's shores, near Sentosa's natural shores and close to Cyrene Reef.

Sentosa: Staid blobs and galloping star
This morning, we are glad to show Serina of the Tropical Marine Science Institute (TMSI) some of the ascidians on Sentosa. She is preparing for the workshop on ascidians next month.
Here's some of the common ones usually seen on our shores: Little blobs that look like green gum drops, the red striped 'Thumbs up' sea squirt, yellow clustered blobs and some that form layers.

Special plants of Sentosa are fruiting!
Sentosa's natural shores at Tanjung Rimau edge a natural cliff cloaked in special plants.
Today, I was hoping the special mangrove trees there are fruiting.

Semakau swiftly with flaring on Pulau Bukom
Another predawn start for the low tide, this time with TeamSeagrass to Pulau Semakau.
As we approach Pulau Semakau, we could see that flaring is still going on at Pulau Bukom's petrochemical installations!
There are two black plumes rising up from the huge flare as we head out to our monitoring sites at Pulau Semakau's vast seagrass meadows.
