Reclamation at Jurong Island near natural sites, continues until Feb 11

The reclamation is near two natural submerged reefs: Terumbu Pidara and Terumbu Chawan, and a natural island called Pulau Buaya.
The reclamation started in Aug 09, was extended to Feb 10 and again to Aug 10, now extended to Feb 11 and covers an even larger area.

This is an extension to Port Marine Notice No.21 of 2010. The working area and working period have been revised. With effect from 28 Aug 2010 to 27 Feb 2011. 12 hours daily (0630hrs to 1830hrs) including Sundays and Public Holidays. At Ayer Chawan Basin and its vicinity (see chartlet above):

Deposition works will entail sand filling by hopper barges with bottom opening
method. There will be survey work carried out by DHI survey vessel as required. Proper precautions will be put in place to keep a safe working distance from all vessels when such operations are carried out. A safety boat will be deployed to advise all craft to keep clear of the working area.
