Wild fun for kids during the December school holidays!

Exciting nature activities specially for kids are lined up for the coming school holidays! Free fun ways to discover and enjoy Singapore's biodiversity!

Special activities include a family walk at Sentosa's natural shores, and in our threatened MacRitchie forests. And a demonstration of traditional prawn farming. Also nature camps and workshops specially for kids. Learn about our marine life, dragonflies and damselflies, pollinators and more. Ecolife Tour at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park: 24 Nov (Sat)1 Dec (Sat)8 Dec (Sat), 15 Dec (Sat), 22 Dec (Sat), 29 Dec (Sat)
This family tour introduces Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park and its biodiversity through the use of interactive exploration themes and activities. Have fun working together to answer worksheets, conduct surveys and photo hunts, among other activities.


8 Dec (Sat): Love MacRitchie Walk by Toddycats - Venus Drive
Join the NUS Toddycats of Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum in discovering the forest! Learn about amazing plants and animals living in our backyard as part of the Love Our MacRitchie Forest movement. Come join us and learn about the conservation issues surrounding the proposed Cross Island MRT Line (CRL) through the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. The forest trail at Venus Loop is a dirt path, which is relatively level and suitable for children and the elderly. Be prepared for some mud.

24 Nov (Sat): Prawn and Fish Harvesting Demo at Sungei Buloh
Once again we bring you on a journey back to the past, where the history of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve as prawn and fish farms is one not to be ignored. The importance of mangroves as a spawning place and nursery for prawns and other life played an important role in shaping Sungei Buloh today. The traditional method of prawn harvesting will be demonstrated and how the tidal influence play a part in this activity will be brought to life.

17 Nov (Sat): Young Naturalist Camp at Sungei Buloh
This one-day camp encompasses a series of fun-filled and educational indoor and outdoor learning of the wetlands and nature conservation issues through worksheets, nature walks and hands-on activities. Suitable for children from 7 to 12 years. $5 registration fee and participants to purchase the Young Naturalist Passport at 50cents.


20 Nov (Tue): The Secret World of Pollinators - Kids' Tour
Discover how plants develop from flower to fruit during this tour and learn more about the role pollinators – bees, birds and butterflies – play in this process! Follow us on a journey in the Children’s Garden to spot nectar-producing plants and find out why our pollinator friends are attracted to them. Suitable for children in K1 – P6 Levels. $6 per child and $6 per accompanying adult


24 Nov (Sat): NSS Kids’ Fun with Marine Life at Sentosa’s Natural Shore
The Nature Society (Singapore)'s favourite shore guide Marcus Ng is back to show us the wonders of Sentosa’s natural shore at Tanjong Rimau during low tide. Expect to see fascinating marine life such as soft and hard corals, seagrass and seaweed, crabs, fishes and more. Participants need to wear booties or covered shoes and be prepared to get your feet wet. NSS member: $2 per child, Non-member: $10 per child.

27 Nov (Tue): Sara the Forgetful Dinosaur - Children's guided treasure hunt
A giant forgetful prehistoric dinosaur has left its eggs in the Singapore Botanic Gardens! Children will discover some interesting members of the plant kindgom in this guided tour ending in a treasure hunt. Suitable for children in K1 - P6 levels. $8.50 per child (includes $2.50 "Sara, The Forgetful Dinosaur" Workbook) and $6 per accompanying adult.

1 Dec (Sat): Dragons and Damsels in Our Wetlands - a guided tour for kids
Did you know that dragonflies are among one of the most ancient winged insects in the world? With body structures that have remain largely unchanged since the Jurassic age, these fighter jets of the insect world help to keep the population of insects in check, and are an indicator for the health of our environment. Learn how the plants and animals have adapted to this wetland habitat, discover the differences between dragonflies and damselflies, and challenge yourself to identifying the many species of ‘dragons’ and ‘damsels’ that can be found here! Suitable for children in K1-P6. $6 per child and $6 per accompanying adult

Nature Keep Camp for kids: 20 Nov (Tue), 27 Nov (Tue), 4 Dec (Tue)
Designed to stimulate the interest of the young and inculcate in them an appreciation of our forests. This one-day Nature Keeper Camp aims to nurture young minds in active protection and conservation of our natural heritage. Suitable for children 7 - 11 years old (Primary 1 to 5). $25 per child (including halal lunch, afternoon tea-break and all craft materials).

5 Dec (Wed): The Adventures of Sara the Botanicosaurus - a mandarin guided tour
Sara the Botanicosaurus is hungry! Mummy promised to cook up a good lunch if Sara brings home some fruits and vegetables from the Farm and Orchard at the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden. However, Sara is not very sure what the produce looks like. Come and help Sara find the ingredients for her lunch! This programme is conducted in Mandarin.
