Singapore got dolphins and dugongs too!

As the year ends, here's a round up of the sightings of dolphins and dugongs in Singapore in the last quarter of 2017. There were also lots of sea turtle happenings in November, compiled here.

Looking forward to more amazing sights on our shores in 2018!

CheeBoon Ang shared this sighting of a family of dolphins off St John's Island on 7 Oct 2017. This may be the same family of dolphins we saw here in August.

On 1 Dec, this gentle sea turtle was seen while diving at Pulau Hantu.

In addition, sea turtle babies also hatched in November, compiled here.

Dugongs!

Although it lies in the middle of an industrial triangle and major shipping lanes, Cyrene has some of Singapore's best seagrass meadows.

So it's not surprising to see dugong feeding trails on 3 Dec I saw them too on our last trip here in Aug 2017.

Otters in the islands

Otters visit St John's Island too! A family of 5-7 otters has been appearing there since Oct 2017.

Share your sightings!

Did you see dolphins, sea turtles, otters, dugongs or other spectacular marine animals on Singapore shores? I'd love to hear all about it!
