A Singapore Biodiversity Extravaganza - BoSS III

20 speakers, 50 posters, all major ecosystems in Singapore! Only once every four years! A great event for those who want to learn more and do more for Singapore's biodiversity!
Registration now open!

Singapore has amazing biodiversity in all major tropical ecosystems: rainforest, freshwater and marine. There's a great deal going on all the time, from research, management to outreach and education.

This one-day event showcases the tip of the spear, a glimpse of the enormous efforts ongoing, and a chance to meet the Real People who do Real Work for our biodiversity.

20 speakers will make 10-minute presentations each, in five sessions from 8am to 6pm. There will also be two special updates about the new natural history museum and the national biodiversity sustainability and action plan.

There will be two long and sumptuous tea sessions, giving everyone a chance to chat and view the expected 50 posters featuring the many interesting work going on for our biodiversity.

More about the Symposium and online registration on the BoSS blog.

Date: 24 Sep (Sat)
Time: 8am-6pm
Venue: Lecture Theatre 27, National University of Singapore map

This year's symposium is “The Next Generation”, very apt as the work is being carried on by the young ones. Most of the speakers are below 40 years old! Bravo!

Siva aka Otterman says "Two of us who are edging in should go unnoticed due to our youthful disposition!" I think he is referring to himself ... and me! Ouch.

During the Symposium, I hope to cover in my 10-minutes, as much as I can about the issues facing our shores and the amazing work being done to protect them.

I'm so old that I recall the first BoSS in 2003! It was a massive TWO-day event with 28 speakers!
The first Symposium was particularly memorable for me as Siva kindly allowed the launch of the Chek Jawa guidebook during the Symposium! Chek Jawa was very fresh on our minds and it was also featured in posters and the presentations by many speakers that day.
The second BoSS was held in 2007. So it seems the Symposium is held once every four years! Don't miss this third BoSS, register online by 18 Sep!

Looking forward to seeing you there!
