7 Aug (Sat): Talk on "Chek Jawa - Our Natural Heritage"

Alan Tan a long time Chek Jawa guide gives this talk. Alan was among the first to step up as a volunteer guide when reclamation was deferred. He has since joined NParks and now looks after the Chek Jawa volunteers!

Come for his talk about his beloved Chek Jawa, which according to the talk synopsis is "currently regarded as one of Singapore Nature Heritage and many would like to see it becoming our next wetland reserve."

About the talk: Chek Jawa Wetlands is located at the eastern part of Pulau Ubin. Originally slated for reclamation since 1992, Chek Jawa Wetlands consist of 6 eco-systems in an area covering approximately 100 hectares. Rich in boidiversity and full of life, she is currently regarded as one of Singapore Nature Heritage and many would like to see it becoming our next wetland reserve.

Be intrigued by the amazing wonders of this wonderful place once known as a dirty mudflat.

Come and join Alan Tan, Senior Conservation Officer, Nparks/Pulau Ubin Branch, for a talk on the colourful flora and interesting fauna of Chek Jawa Wetlands. Alan Tan Yong Hong has been our Chek Jawa volunteer for a few years before he decided to join us as our Senior Conservation Officer. He also loves nature photography.
