Sharing our shores with CHIJ Katong Convent

I had a great time sharing about our shores with 200 enthusiastic young ladies at CHIJ Katong Convent.

Thanks to Ms Heng Pei Yan for not only giving me a chance to speak with the school.
After the talk, Ms Heng gives out the Southern Shores guidesheet to all the participants. She personally paid for these copies. Her support, together with others, made it possible for us to print 8,000 copies to be given out for free!
The guidesheet was a big hit!
The ladies asked lots of good questions after the talk, giving me the chance to explain more about how natural regeneration takes place, and how to get to some of our shores.
Arranging this talk is just a small part of what Ms Heng has been doing for our sea shores. She also has been bringing selected Katong Convent ladies to join some of the Naked Hermit Crab walks so they can get a taste of being nature guides. At Chek Jawa and at Pasir Ris mangrove boardwalk too.

Ms Heng is very active in surveys of our shores, as well as doing outreach work to raise awareness of Singapore's amazing marine biodiversity. Read more about her adventures at her blog.
