Wild fun for kids during the June school holidays!

Exciting nature activities specially for kids are lined up for the coming school holidays! Free fun ways to discover and enjoy Singapore's biodiversity! Come for the Chek Jawa Open House, Festival of Biodiversity, Ubin Day.
Come for the once-a-year Pesta Ubin, Pulau Ubin Open House: 25 May to 24 Jun. Many Pesta Ubin activities are free of charge. Some do NOT require registration. Simply come to Pulau Ubin and join the fun! Find a Pesta Ubin activity that suits your schedule and interest! Don't say Bo Jio!

26 May (Sat) and 2 Jun (Sat) and 9 Jun (Sat) and 16 Jun (Sat) and 23 Jun (Sat): Ecolife Tour at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park
This family tour introduces Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park and its biodiversity through the use of interactive exploration themes and activities. Have fun working together to answer worksheets, conduct surveys and photo hunts, among other activities.


2 and 3 Jun (Sat, Sun): Festival of Biodiversity
This event celebrates Singapore's natural heritage and in doing so, we hope to bring about greater awareness of the biodiversity that Singapore has. Visitors can look forward to a range of fun workshops and activities for all ages and interactive exhibits at this year's Festival. Venue: Open space between Tampines MRT Station and Tampines Mall

2 Jun (Sat) and 9 Jun and 16 Jun and 23 Jun: Ecolife at Coney Island
Join volunteer guides on this FREE walk to find out more and learn more about the interesting flora and fauna found on the island.


3 Jun (Sun): Fun walk along the Southern Ridges
Take your family on this FREE leisurely stroll through the Southern Ridges, a soothing sanctuary of greenery that is steeped in history and home to some of nature's greatest gifts of flora and fauna. Highlights of the free tour include the Henderson Waves, Sembcorp Forest of Giants, Forest Walk and Singing Forest.


10 Jun (Sun): Balik Chek Jawa
FREE, no registration required, just come to Chek Jawa! Volunteer guides will be stationed all over the boardwalk to share about Chek Jawa's amazing wildlife. Spot monkeys to wild boar, birds to butterflies, crabs to mudskippers, and fascinating plants of the mangroves and shores, some of which are rare elsewhere. If we are lucky we may encounter otters or even a dugong. (There will be NO activities on the seashores).

16 Jun (Sat): FREE night walk with Nature Society (Singapore) and Herpetological Society of Singapore
Specially for Pesta Ubin. Great for the family! Kids aged 6 and above welcomed. The Vertebrate Study Group is organising a joint night walk with the Herpetological Society of Singapore to try to spot wildlife such as snakes, mouse deer, wild pigs, owls and more at Pulau Ubin.


18 Jun (Mon) and 19 Jun (Tue): Sisters Islands Marine Park intertidal walk
The intertidal area at Sisters’ Islands Marine Park is most suitable for visiting during low tides of 0.4 metres and below. This is when you will be able to see the shore teeming with marine life as the area will be submerged under water at higher tides. Nature guides will be on hand to bring you on a tour to experience the Marine Park’s amazing biodiversity. These guided walks are conducted free of charge bi-monthly.


23 Jun (Sat): FREE Basic Mountain Biking Skills Session by Mountain Bike Association (Singapore)
For the adventurous family! Learn basic Mountain-biking Off-Road skills with expert instructors from the Mountain Bike Association (Singapore).


24 Jun (Sun): FREE Ubin Day
The Grand Finale of Pesta Ubin! Come to the Assembly Area for activities by passionate Ubin interest groups, kids activities and more! No registration required, just come to Pulau Ubin to join the fun.


24 Jun (Sun): FREE Coastal Cleanup at Jelutong Beach with Sea Shepherd
Specially for Pesta Ubin. Do your part in helping the oceans and learn about marine debris issues, and find out alternatives to our daily usage of plastics! All ages, no experience needed.


24 Jun (Sun): FREE Guided Walk of Ubin Mangroves with Restore Ubin Mangroves (R.U.M.) Initiative
Specially for Pesta Ubin. FREE walking tour of Ubin's mangroves near Ubin Town. Learn more about an exciting ground-up community effort to restore mangroves at abandoned aquaculture ponds on Pulau Ubin. Suitable for kids and the family. And those who want to learn more about Ubin mangroves and have a glimpse of Ubin kampung life.

24 Jun (Sun): FREE Birdwatching with Nature Society (Singapore)
Specially for Pesta Ubin. Join guides from the Bird Group, Nature Society (Singapore) for a three-hour walk through the Ubin countryside. We will look out for island specialities including the Oriental Pied Hornbill, Red Junglefowl, White-rumped Shama and the globally-endangered Straw-headed Bulbul.

24 Jun (Sun): FREE Art in the Park with Nature Society (Singapore)
Specially for Pesta Ubin. No drawing or painting experience necessary. Join artist Alpana Ahuja for a fun and casual site drawing and painting session. Meet fellow nature art lovers to observe and capture Ubin's landscape and biodiversity in a variety of mediums, from paint to ink and pencil.


24 Jun (Sun): FREE Sensory Trail plant walk with Nature Society (Singapore)
Specially for Pesta Ubin. Join the Plant Group on a botanical tour of the Sensory Trail in Pulau Ubin.

30 May (Wed): Sara Goes Gardening - a guided tour for kids
Sara, the Botanicosaurus, and her siblings and friends are going to discover the joy of gardening at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Join Sara as she discovers fascinating facts and enjoys interesting stories about aloe vera, lemon grass, garlic, spring onion and many more nutritious and yummy herbs and spices. Alongside learning about plants for a healthier and stronger body, pick up gardening tips to grow your favourite plants for your very own kitchen garden! Suitable for children in K1 - P6 levels. $9 per child (includes "Sara Goes Gardening" book) and $6 per accompanying adult.


2 Jun (Sat): Young Naturalist Camp at Sungei Buloh
This one-day camp encompasses a series of fun-filled and educational indoor and outdoor learning of the wetlands and nature conservation issues through worksheets, nature walks and hands-on activities. Suitable for children from 7 to 12 years. $5 registration fee and participants to purchase the Young Naturalist Passport at 50cents.
 


2 Jun (Sat): Guided Mangrove Kayaking Paddle at Sungei Jelutong with Nature Society (Singapore)
Specially for Pesta Ubin, a series of guided, self-paddled kayak tours on Sungei Jelutong to enjoy its fascinating mangroves. Experienced volunteer guides will explain interesting facts about mangrove plants, the importance of our coastal forests, and what we can do to conserve these forests and why we conserve. This leisure guided trip is suitable for both children and adults alike.


2 Jun (Sat): Numbers and Shapes -- a guided tour for kids
Follow a trail of numbers and shapes at the Singapore Botanic Gardens! Children will have the opportunity to discover some interesting characteristics about selected plants with special emphasis on leaves, their numbers and shapes. Suitable for children in K1 – P2 levels. $6 per child and $6 per accompanying parent.


4 Jun (Mon) and 5 Jun (Tue) and 19 Jun (Tue) and 20 Jun (Wed): Chek Jawa intertidal walk
Join the NParks volunteers for a tour to discover and learn about Chek Jawa's six ecosystems and the diverse array of animals that inhabits these unique habitats. Journey through the Chek Jawa Visitor Centre, 1.1km long boardwalk, Jejawi viewing tower and sandbar with experienced guides. $60 per group (for a maximum of 15 people)


5 Jun (Tue) and 8 Jun (Fri) and 12 Jun (Tue): Nature Keeper Camp for kids
Designed to stimulate the interest of the young and inculcate in them an appreciation of our forests. This one-day Nature Keeper Camp aims to nurture young minds in active protection and conservation of our natural heritage. Suitable for children 7 - 11 years old (Primary 1 to 5). $25 per child. Includes all materials, tea breaks and lunch. Charges subsidized by Mitsubishi Corporation.


8 Jun (Fri): The Adventures of Sara the Botanicosaurus - a mandarin guided tour
Sara the Botanicosaurus is hungry! Mummy promised to cook up a good lunch if Sara brings home some fruits and vegetables from the Farm and Orchard at the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden. However, Sara is not very sure what the produce looks like. Come and help Sara find the ingredients for her lunch! This programme is conducted in Mandarin. Suitable for children in K1 – P6 Levels. $6 per child and $6 per accompanying adult.

9-10 Jun (Sat, Sun): Family Nature Camp
Specially for Pesta Ubin, specially for families, this 2-day-1-night camping experience focuses on family bonding in the wild natural setting of Pulau Ubin! Enjoy the rustic setting of Ubin Living Lab, while Nature guides from Cicada Tree Eco-Place inspire and enthrall with nature walks on Pulau Ubin in the evening, night and morning. Suitable for families with children (6 to 12 years). $100 per adult ($80 per adult if bringing own tent) and $80 per child.


10 Jun (Sun): Make a Pulau Ubin Animal Clay Figurine with Jacquelyn Soo
Specially for Pesta Ubin, Kids, adults of all ages welcomed in this air-dry clay making activity! Artist and Art Educator Jacquelyn Soo will guide you in making miniature clay figurines of that we see on Ubin! Like otters, hornbill, rooster, wild boar, monkey. No experience required! All materials and tools provided! Air-Dry Clay (non-toxic), tools, water, glue, scissors. $15 per pair (parent and child) or $15 per individual (Minimum 8 pairs, Maximum 15 pairs). Additional child only pays $5.


14 Jun (Thu): Let’s Discover Plants and Animals - a guided tour for kids
Do you know that the garden is not only a home to plants, but also many fascinating animals, such as, birds, frogs, squirrels, butterflies, dragonflies, ants and earthworms? Be amazed by the many different types of animals you can find in the Singapore Botanic Gardens! Learn fascinating facts about wildlife in the Gardens and pick up tips on respecting them in nature and our environment. You may even have the chance to get up-close-and-personal with an oriental whip snake and a monitor lizard too! Suitable for children in K1 - P6 levels. $6 per child and $6 per accompanying adult.


21 Jun (Thu): Plants and Their Uses - Ecogarden tour for kids
Plants play a key role in our lives. Come explore our EcoGarden where opportunities to study, smell and feel selected living specimens will be provided! Special emphasis will be placed on how these plants are useful to humans. Suitable for children in K1 – P6 Levels. $6 per child and $6 per accompanying adult


23 Jun (Sat): NSS Kids’ Fun with Night Creatures at Bukit Batok Nature Park
Nocturnal creatures come alive as soon as they feel the protection of darkness. Join us to check out the teeming night life at Bukit Batok Nature Park where we hope to see colugos, civets, bats, owls, nightjars, snakes, frogs, crabs, insects and more. For children (4 to 12 years old). NSS Member: $2 per child, Non-Member: $10 per child. Parents, caregivers and older siblings are encouraged to join in at no charge.
