Drilling to take place near Kusu Island reefs

Why are marine bore holes being drilled very close to Kusu Island reefs? There are rich reefs outside Kusu's artificial seawalls.

Will the investigation affect these reefs? What is being planned for this area? I don't know.

In addition to this investigation, massive dredging has been going near Kusu Island since Mar 2011. The latest Port Marine Notice has this going on until Oct 2011.
