Sentosa Tg Rimau is alive!

Thanks to Kok Sheng for checking up on Sentosa Tanjung Rimau during this low tide cycle. So that together, we managed to check on Labrador, Berlayar and Sentosa, the shores closest to the the 400tonne Pasir Panjang oil spill on 14 Jun 2024.
There have never been a lot of corals on this shore since we started surveying. Kok Sheng saw a variety of common corals, mostly boulder-shaped ones. As well as a colony of Boulder horn coral which we seldom come across. He also saw a variety of medium sized leathery soft corals colonies. This is similar to our last survey in Aug 2024 two months after the oil spill.

The shores were alive with fishes! They do become more active at night. Kok Sheng saw special fishes like the Estuarine moray eel, a young grouper, as well as common fishes like filefish, wrasse, gobies, toadfish and more.
The shore seems lively with other animals too. Kok Sheng saw octopuses, special and common crabs, Arabian cowrie, Diadema sea urchins and some interesting slugs. Lots of Bryopsis slugs in the Bryopsis bloom! Also, many Jeweled chitons - as we also observed on other shores on this low tide cycle.
The eastern sandy shores seems to be doing well. Kok sheng saw Common sea stars, sand dollars. Also seldom seen pebble crab, olive snail and moon snail.
On the eastern shore, it seems there are still many clumps of long Tape seagrasses, though they might see a little shorted on the western shore, where a Bryopsis blooms seems to still be going on. This is similar to our last survey in Aug 2024.
